I was a little worried about my new coworker whose first day was yesterday. She reads me as male. But my coworkers are only at about 50% with correct pronouns for me, so I was anxious about that conversation that was pending: “Why do they call you ‘she’?” This coworker is kind of a… “Good Ol’ Gal,” if you take my meaning. I was completely not sure what to expect.
But then I got to know her a little yesterday, and, perhaps noticing that I was possibly on the queer spectrum, she revealed to me that her last roommate was a drag queen who she tended to call “She” even when they weren’t presenting as female. So now I’m like - well, whatever happens, we’ll be good. :D
